Orthopedic Surgery

The Orthopedic surgery team of the Groupe hospitalier Diaconesses Croix Saint Simon fits around 1,700 artificial hips, knees and shoulders every year, as well as treating infections of the bones and joints. The hospital was recently ranked 1st in France for hip replacement surgery (Palmarès Le Point, 2013)

Reference Center for complex bone and joint infections

The Center is one of nine centers in France responsible for the co-ordination, research and management of complex bone and joint infections. With 18 beds and an outpatient surgery unit, a multidisciplinary team including surgeons, infection specialists, microbiologists and rheumatologists supports patients with bone infections, joints and joint prostheses.

The service was one of the founders of the Aseptic Surgery Forum Congress, an international, multidisciplinary professional forum which aims to bring together experts in this field around the world in order to advance best practices and research.
